The International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) is an international organisation with thirty years of activity within the United Nations System. A centre of excellence for research and training, it enables scientists from over sixty countries to work in contact with the world’s finest experts in the various life sciences sectors.
There are 46 research programmes under way in the three locations – Trieste, New Delhi (India) and Cape Town (South Africa) – and 575 researchers. The main headquarters is based in Trieste and constitutes a scientific hub of a high international level, equipped to implement the most advanced experimental methodologies in the field of molecular and cellular biology. There are 18 research groups operating, whose activities involve 200 people from over 35 different countries.
